Sun, Water, and a Patriarch

6/28/10

Just finished up an awesome weekend at Water Fest in Excelsior Springs, MO.  Incredible time with the great folks from Crescent Lake Christian Center.  Though we were only scheduled to perform on Saturday, I wound up volunteering to supply our sound system and run sound along side my good buddy David Lin (of 9th Hour) for the two dayevent. . .

Awards are Nice, Kingdom Building is Better

5/28/10

This past Saturday, I had the privilege of attending the King Cat Christian Music Conference and Awards held in Overland Park, KS.  I served as one of the clinicians sharing my experience of live performance with several local Christian artists.  Not only was that a great honor, but the fellowship and connections made were invaluable.

Then, at the award show, the band and I wound up winning Best Group of the Year. . .

Kearney, MO and Paducah, KY pack a mighty punch

4/07/10

We're back from a couple weekends of traveling around.  We hit the First Baptist Church in Kearney, MO for a couple days of rockin' youth worship and a concert.  First of all, great facility.  Wow!!  Best church gym I've been in for years!!  Second, great crowd.  We had about 40 kids that really rocked out for Christ that weekend.  We had some amazing moments to change lives and bring about discipleship. . .

Glorious Exhaustion

I'm tired.  I do this to myself all the time.  I keep my schedule running so much that I eventually get to the point of complete exhaustion. . .

Losing Control

1/07/10

Over the past few years, God has taken me on an incredible journey. Now, He's taking me in several new directions. I'm excited about where God's leading my life, but at the same time unsure about where exactly I'm going. This is where I consistently struggled in the past.

For those who don't know me, I'm a bit of a control freak; a Jack of all trades and master of none. . .

Addicted to Crud

11/16/09

"Hello.  My name is Jason. (Hi, Jason)  And I'm a TV-aholic.  It's been less than 24 hours since I fed this addiction with mind-numbing, useless, and self-destructing garbage while sitting on my backside letting the world pass me by.  It teaches me that sports, fighting, disfuction, promiscuity, and alien invasions are the norm of life.  I know this addiction is slowly destroying my life and want to leave it behind. . .

Why are you screaming?

9/24/09

Being an independent Christian artist has been one of the biggest joys of my life.  I get to bring glory to God while performing the music I love.  I get to meet so many amazing people at every performance.  I get to share the gospel in a unique and passionate medium.

However, with all these joys, it can get very difficult.  It's a grueling schedule at times.  I've still got my day job as a programmer. . .

Hit the Ball and RUN!!!

7/13/09

I've been loving every minute of watching my son's little league baseball league this summer.  I'll admit that I'm a little frustrated that almost every other day is taken up with games or practices, but Ben's loving it, so we're all good with it.

As fun as it's been, there have also been frustrations.  Lori and I make sure to let Ben know that it doesn't matter if he hits the ball hardest or makes diving catches or throw perfectly to first base to get the runner out. . .

Battling Our Personal 'Goliaths'

6/01/09

I'm going to get a little serious today.  (I know.  It feels weird for me, too.)

In today's world, it seems everywhere we find another "giant" blocking our way.  The obstacles we encounter are overwhelming at times.  The economy is bad.  Divorce is becoming the norm.  The future and the environment are uncertain.  The news reports day in and day out of negativity and hopelessness. . .

Floop Bloops

5/26/09

One day as my family was getting ready for breakfast, we were choosing the cereal that each person wanted.  When it was my three-year-old’s turn, she boldly shouted out, “Floop Bloops!”  After repeating herself several times and finally pointing to the box, we established “Fruit Loops” was her “flavorite”.  My eight-year-old, feeling the need to correct, spent the next five minutes coaching my daughter in accurate breakfast phonetics. . .

You Might be a Redneck

About eight months ago, I started leading worship at a mid-week Bible study for a new church plant.  Doesn’t really sound out of the ordinary, does it?  Well, what makes this church plant unique is that it’s completely geared towards the “outdoorsman”.  Their outreach program consists of hunting, fishing, camping, four wheelers, and more fishing. . .

My mind is spinning and my arm is throbbing

I just can't hardly wait until next week!!!  We're heading to Nashville to work at ZodLounge with three of the best producers, musicians, and all-around great guys I've ever met.  I met these guys back in November while working on my buddy J. Brian Hill's new project (check it out.  It's AWESOME!!!).  They've worked with some of the top artists in Christian and secular music. . .

Oops, I did it again

3/03/09

Today, I was sitting at my desk at "the day job" wondering how in the world I got myself into another messy, stressful situation.  The developers asking for one thing, the quality control asking for another, while the customer is demanding for the request yesterday.  Where am I?  Well, I'm and dummy in the middle trying to make sense of everything while playing mediator so no one loses a finger while pointing it at the other party. . .
